Help Protect Our Water Supply This Summer

💧 Help Protect Our Water Supply This Summer

The Town is asking all residents to make water conservation a priority this summer.

Warmer temperatures and dry conditions can place increased demand on our water system. By making a few simple changes, we can all help ensure there’s enough water for everyone throughout the season.

Here’s how you can help:

💧 Water lawns and gardens only when necessary, and do so early in the morning or later in the evening to reduce evaporation. Avoid watering during the hottest part of the day.

🚿 Limit sprinkler use. Consider using a watering can or handheld hose nozzle instead of running sprinklers for extended periods.

🚰 Repair leaks promptly. A dripping tap or leaking toilet can waste hundreds of litres of water over time.

🚗 Wash vehicles less frequently or use a commercial car wash that recycles water where possible.

🪣 Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of using a hose to clean them.

🏊 Cover pools when not in use to reduce evaporation and the need for refilling.

🚿 Take shorter showers and turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving.

🍽️ Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads to make the most of every litre of water.

Every drop counts. Small changes made by every household can have a significant impact on reducing demand and protecting our community’s water supply.

Thank you for doing your part to conserve water and help keep our water system sustainable throughout the summer.
