CARNIVAL PARK At Holy Cross Park

Starting February 17, take the time to visit Holy Cross Park to check out the Carnival lights. Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and view our new 2023 ice sculpture. The park will be open between 6 and 8pm each night until Sunday, February 26.

Carnival Button Competition
We’re partnering with Holy Cross Elementary for another Crystal Carnival Button Contest. Students and staff will have the opportunity to win prizes with their button number during the Winter Carnival. The winner will be invited to light the torch and officially kick-off the Crystal Carnival celebrations.

Build-A-Chilly

It’s time to paint the Town with Chilly. We want to see our mascot Chilly on your property. Here’s how to enter: Construct your very own Chilly and send a picture of your creation to info@holyrood.ca. One Chilly can be entered per household. Winner will receive a $100 cash prize.

Holyrood Photo Scavenger Hunt

Over the course of the Crystal Carnival, we encourage you to get out and see the Holyrood sites. Form your team of 2 (minimum) to 6 (maximum) people and complete the scavenger hunt list to win a Rec Room Family Prize-Pack valued at $200. Hunt list and submission details coming Thursday, February 16. No registration necessary.

Riddle Me This Competition
5 riddles at 5 different locations around town. Visit each site and answer the riddle for your chance to win!

Riddle locations and answer forms will be available on this site on Thursday, February 16. 

Crystal Carnival Button Contest
We’re teaming up with Holy Cross Elementary for another Crystal Carnival Button Contest. Each day of the Carnival, students and staff will have the opportunity to win prizes with their button number. The person with the winning design will take home a Crystal Carnival Prize-Pack and a Pizza Party for their entire class! Stay tuned to see who the lucky winner will be!

Skating at Boland’s Pond
If conditions allow, the Holyrood Fire Department will be maintaining the ice at Boland’s Pond this Carnival. Feel free to enjoy a family skate daily between 8:00am and 9:00pm. Benches on site.

FRIDAY, February 17

Carnival Kick-Off & Torch Lighting
Location: Holy Cross Park
Time: 6:30pm
We’re flaming the torch under the Holy Cross Park Lights to officially open the 2023 Crystal Carnival. Don’t miss the ice carving unveiling, free hot chocolate and small fireworks display to officially open the Carnival.

Carnival Cornhole
Location: The Hat Lounge
Time: 7:30pm
Cost: $20/person

Don’t miss the first annual Crystal Carnival Cornhole Tournament on Friday, February 17 at The Hat Lounge. Prizes for the top teams with all proceeds going to support the Crystal Dip fundraising efforts for the Food Bank and Free Little Pantries. Enjoy 4 games of round robin/blind draw play, followed by a single elimination playoff bracket.

Morning Snowshoe

We’re under the lights at Holy Cross Park for the Carnival Classic! Come check out this year’s Crystal Carnival Ice Sculpture and take in the live music, hot chocolate, face painting, games, fire pits and a marshmallow/wiener roast.

The Crystal Dip
In aid of the Holyrood Food Bank and Little Free Pantries

POLAR BEAR DIP INFORMATION
Can you handle the freezing Atlantic Ocean in the midst of winter? If you have the courage, find your wackiest costume and take the plunge into the cold Holyrood Harbour to support food security in our town. Join us at the Star of the Sea immediately after the dip for brunch as we release the total funds raised. All dippers will receive a free breakfast!
