Fire Ban Lifted – June 9, 2025

The Holyrood Fire Department wishes to advise residents that the Fire Ban imposed on May 30, 2025, has been lifted effective immediately, today, Monday, June 9, 2025.

🔥Burn permits are still required for Open Air Fires through Department of Forestry (during Forest Fire Season), and also year-round in the Town of Holyrood. For questions about the burn permit process, please contact the Holyrood Fire Department at (709)229-7278

🔥 Fires lit in burn barrels must be 15 metres away from any uncleared land, woodlands, adjacent buildings or structures, grassland, or forest land, and must meet all other provisions of the regulations, which can be obtained on the town website.

🔥Burn permits are not required for backyard fires in an enclosed CSA approved firepit, propane firepit, barbecue or grill, however must be a minimum of 3.5 meters from nearest woods, brush, or other flammable material, and are still subject to the provisions of a burn permit holder as outlined in the open air fire regulations.

🔥We would like to remind residents that although the ban is lifted, fires can start at anytime. Please remember to keep a water source nearby and extinguish all flame before leaving the area. Always be fire safe.
