🔸Ground crews from the Holyrood Fire Department and other mutual aid fire departments continue to work on site while supporting the Department of Forestry in their efforts. Overnight monitoring will be carried out by the Town of Holyrood, Witless Bay Fire Department, and Central Avalon Ground Search and Rescue.
🔸The Emergency Operations Centre continues to work with various partners, including government agencies and others, to ensure decision-making is based on input from experts in their fields.
🔸Crews had another good day on the Holyrood fire. Tomorrow ground crews will action the western portion of the fire to continue attacking hot spots closest to structures.
🔸The State of Emergency, Evacuation Order (from 377 Conception Bay Highway to the Conception Bay South boundary) and Road Closures remain in effect. Everyone is asked to respect these safety measures.
🔸All residents who have evacuated due to the wildfire are asked to please register with the Canadian Red Cross, in person, at Villanova Junior High, 2697 Topsail Road, CBS (new location as of August 6th at 4:00pm), or by calling 709-729–0921.
🔸NO RETURN to area until safe to do so has been declared by the Town of Holyrood.
🔸Residents are advised that a province-wide fire ban is in effect until at least September 7th, 2025.
As of 9:55 p.m. on August 7, 2025, we have been dealing with this fire event for 79 hours and 22 minutes. We will continue to work hard and get to the other side of this emergency.
