🔸The fire in Holyrood is now classified as “Under Control” by the Department of Forestry.
🔸There is minimal fire behaviour observed, with the fire fully contained by hose lines. We continue to see hotspots occur occasionally, and the fire department is responding effectively.
🔸We all live here, and it’s important to be extra careful to protect our community during these times. With the dry weather, high heat, and fires still active in the area, please do your part to help keep everyone safe.
🔸Before you start up your lawn mower or power saw, take a moment to ask yourself — is it safe right now? Have you checked your property for any combustibles or fire hazards? A quick check can make a big difference to protect yourselves and your neighbours.
🔸We continue to monitor our water levels, however at this time we see an increased use. We are asking residents to please refrain from using sprinkler systems, washing their vehicles and/or driveways, or engaging in other unnecessary water usage at this time.
Coping during a crisis: Mental health support for wildfire-affected communities:
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure — you’re not alone.
Stress and emotional reactions are normal during disasters like wildfires. You may feel numb, restless, tearful or just “not yourself.” Children can also have trouble with uncertainty. These are all valid responses to a traumatic event.
Please visit NL Health Services for more information on accessing support: https://nlhealthservices.ca/news-centre/wildfire-information/#mha
🔸Residents are advised that a province-wide fire ban is in effect until at least September 7, 2025.
By staying aware and working together, we’ll keep our community safe and get through this together.
