The Holyrood Fire Department wishes to advise its residents that the Fire Ban imposed on May 8, 2025, has been lifted effective immediately, today, Monday, May 12, 2025.
Burn permits are still required for Open Air Fires through Department of Forestry (during Forest Fire Season), and also year-round in the Town of Holyrood.
– For Questions about the Burn Permit Process, please contact the Holyrood Fire Department at 229-7278
Fires lit in burn barrels must be 15 metres away from any uncleared land, woodlands, adjacent buildings or structures, grassland, or forest land, and must meet all other provisions of the regulations, which can be obtained on the town website.
Burn permits are not required for backyard fires in an enclosed CSA approved firepit, propane firepit, barbecue or grill, however must be a minimum of 3.5 meters from nearest woods, brush, or other flammable material, and are still subject to the provisions of a burn permit holder as outlined in the open air fire regulations.
We would like to remind residents although the ban is lifted, fires can start at anytime. Please remember to keep a water source nearby and extinguish all flame before leaving the area. Always be fire safe.

FIRE BAN FOR JURISDICTION OF HOLYROOD FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Holyrood Fire Department wishes to advise all citizens that due to current conditions, and ongoing suppression efforts for active wildfires, a fire ban is currently in effect within the Region which includes the Town of Holyrood, Salmonier Line, Deer Park, and Middle Gull Pond.
This ban is intended to reduce the risk of wildfires and to support the efforts of provincial wildfire crews who are working hard to protect our communities. We kindly ask the public to do their part by respecting the ban and helping to reduce the strain on provincial firefighting resources.
The fire ban will be reviewed and updated as the wildfire situation evolves across the province.
This ban includes outdoor wood burning appliances, charcoal BBQs and open fires. Propane firepits and BBQs are permitted.
In the meantime, HFD are asking citizens to be fire safe when using propane firepits and barbeques, to keep a hose or fire extinguisher nearby, and follow manufacturer’s requirements regarding clearances from combustible materials.
The Holyrood Fire Department continues to monitor the situation closely, and will update residents of any changes to the ban.
