Fire Ban in Effect – Jurisdiction of Holyrood Fire Department – Effective July 30, 2025

Please be advised that a fire ban is now in effect for the Town of Holyrood, Salmonier Line, Deer Park, and Middle Gull Pond due to current dry conditions, forecasted weather, and localized wildfire risk factors.

While the Holyrood Fire Department (HFD) previously communicated that they would be following the Provincial Fire Hazard Map and associated guidelines, we want to clarify that local fire bans may still be implemented when conditions warrant additional caution.

Given the heavily forested nature of our region, ongoing dry spells, and other assessed risks, the Holyrood Fire Department has determined that this proactive step is necessary to protect public safety.

What’s Not Permitted:

  • All open fires (including backyard firepits and beach fires)
  • Outdoor wood-burning appliances (e.g., smokers, chimineas)
  • Charcoal BBQs
  • Fireworks

What’s Still Allowed:

  • Propane firepits
  • Propane BBQs

Please continue to be fire-safe:

✔️ Keep a hose or extinguisher nearby

✔️ Follow manufacturer’s instructions on safe clearances

✔️ Never discard lit cigarette butts on the ground or from vehicles

The Holyrood Fire Department will continue to monitor local risk conditions and retain the ability to implement fire restrictions when specific factors in our area differ from provincial trends.
