Employment Opportunity – Communications Assistant/Event Planner

The Town of Holyrood and the Oceans Holyrood Initiative – OHI are currently seeking a Communications Assistant/Event Planner (16 week contract position).

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Communications Assistant will play a key role in developing and executing communication strategies to promote Oceans Holyrood Initiative, engage stakeholders, and enhance the communication abilities of the Town of Holyrood.  The incumbent will also assist with planning and executing a business forum event.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct stakeholder research and contribute to event planning for business awareness events.
  • Coordinate communication efforts for events, supplies, and marketing strategies.
  • Develop a communications database for information sharing within the Town.
  • Develop a detailed plan for a business event and its execution.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a degree or certificate in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or a related field.     
  • Demonstrate proven communication experience, preferably in the non-profit or business sector.
  • Proficient in common software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, One Drive, Zoom, WordPress, Canva, etc.
  • Proficient in common social media platforms including Facebook, X, and Instagram.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Skilled in coordinating communications efforts to promote events, workshops, and programs.
