🔸The fire in Holyrood remains classified as “Under Control” by the Department of Forestry.
🔸There is minimal fire behaviour observed, with the fire fully contained by hose lines. We continue to see hotspots occur occasionally, and the fire department is responding appropriately.
🔸We are asking residents to stay away from the fire zone and not to park on the side of the road while crews are active in the area. This is unsafe for both residents and the firefighters.
🔸Residents are reminded of the Province-Wide Off-Road Vehicle Restriction and we are asking all residents who use all-terrain vehicles to please abide by the provincial order to help reduce fire risk and protect our town.
🔸This is a reminder that we all need to be careful at this time due to the dry weather and lack of moisture. Please check your property for any combustibles or fire hazards — a quick check can make a big difference in protecting yourselves and your neighbours.
🔸We continue to monitor our water levels, and our levels are currently low. We are asking residents to refrain from unnecessary use.
🔸Coping during a crisis: Mental health support for wildfire-affected communities:
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure — you’re not alone. Stress and emotional reactions are normal during disasters like wildfires. You may feel numb, restless, tearful or just “not yourself.” Children can also have trouble with uncertainty. These are all valid responses to a traumatic event.
Please visit NL Health Services for more information on accessing support: https://nlhealthservices.ca/news-centre/wildfire-information/#mha
🔸Residents are advised that a province-wide fire ban is in effect until at least September 7, 2025.
