JOB OPPORTUNITY
Full-time Permanent (Career) Firefighter
The Town of Holyrood is looking to hire a career fire fighter to work at the Fire Hall in Holyrood during the work day from Monday to Friday. The hours of work are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The successful applicant must be (or be willing to become) a member of the Holyrood Volunteer Fire Department. Applicants must have NFPA 472/1072 certification and must also have NFPA Level 1 & 2 completed. All career fire fighters with the Town of Holyrood must have successfully completedAdvanced First Aid (or equivalent) and must pass a medical examination for fire fighters. A Class 5 driver’s license is required with a Class 9 air brake endorsement. A minimum of 3 years experience as a fire fighter (either career fire fighter or volunteer fire fighter) and general knowledge of the requirements of being a career fire fighter are definite assets.
Additional fire fighting training and/or NFPA certification are definite assets, but are not essential. The successful applicant must participate fully in training provided for fire fighters of the HVFD, must be able to carry out all aspects of the fire fighter’s job, and must be able to work alone or work as part of a firefighting team. A detailed JD can be provided to any potential internal applicants qualified for the position, upon request.
