Taxes & Mil Rate
Taxes in the Town of Holyrood are based upon a mil rate applied to the assessed value of your property. The Town’s mil rate remains at 7 mils for residential, and 12 mils for commercial properties in Budget 2025.
Similarly, there have been no changes in water or sewer fees for 2025. Residential water is taxed per unit, at a rate of $369.60. Residential sewer is also taxed per unit, at a rate of $171.60, for a total residential water and sewer tax of $541.20 per unit. Commercial water and sewer are applied based upon business type, as outlined in the Town’s Schedule of Rates & Fees.
Municipal Assessment Agency & Assessed Property Value
Assessed values of properties are determined by the Municipal Assessment Agency, governed under the Assessment Act, 2006. The Town receives information for each property from the Municipal Assessment Agency in June of each year. This assessed value determines your tax bill in January of the following year.
Residents also receive a copy of their assessment from the Municipal Assessment Agency in June. The assessed value can change based on various determinants including whether your property is serviced or unserviced (water/sewer).
If you disagree with the assessed value, or have questions, you should contact the Municipal Assessment Agency directly at 1-877-777-2807. Under the Assessment Act, 2006 property owners who are dissatisfied with their assessment may file an appeal to have the assessment reviewed. Tax Deadlines
Property and Business taxes are due by April 30, 2025.
Water and Sewer taxes are due by May 31, 2025.
The deadline to set up an Equal Payment Plan is April 30, 2025.
