Since implementing the temporary water ban, Town staff have been closely monitoring our water system.
First, thank you to the many residents who have respected the restrictions. During the overnight hours, when the majority of residents have been conserving water, we have seen water levels begin to recover.
However, we have also identified that the ongoing issue is excessive water consumption and misuse. Throughout the day, water usage continues to exceed sustainable levels, preventing our reservoirs from recovering to the levels required to safely lift the ban.
Unfortunately, it is evident that some residents are not complying with the water ban or believe the restrictions do not apply to them. These actions affect the entire community and delay the recovery of our water supply.
The temporary water ban remains in effect. The following activities continue to be prohibited:
- ๐ง Lawn watering (except newly seeded or sodded lawns during the permitted times)
- ๐ Car washing
- ๐ Filling swimming pools or hot tubs
- ๐งผ Power washing driveways, decks, siding, or other outdoor surfaces
- ๐ฟ Any other non-essential outdoor water use
๐ฑ Newly Seeded or Sodded Lawns: Watering remains permitted only between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for the first 21 days following installation. Residents are asked to use only the amount of water necessary.
These restrictions are in place to ensure there is sufficient water for essential household use and emergency fire protection.
We are asking everyone to respect the water ban. The sooner all residents comply, the sooner our reservoirs can recover and these restrictions can be lifted.
Town staff will continue monitoring water levels and will provide updates as conditions change.
Thank you to everyone who is doing their part to conserve Holyrood’s water supply.
