🚱 Temporary Water Ban Now in Effect 🚱

Over the last several evenings, the Town of Holyrood has completed maintenance checks on its water infrastructure, as we have seen a continuous depletion of water in our tank.

The wells are pumping water – so availability of water is NOT the issue – it’s the loss of water.

When the Town loses water from the tank, it is due to:

a. Usage – residents are using more than normal water for daily activities, including household use; cleaning siding and vehicles; filling pools; recreation toys such as splash pads; vegetable gardens; and other summer-related activities. OR

b. We have a leak

We have used our leak detection equipment and have found no leak. We have completed a manual inspection of trouble areas – we checked ditches, we have isolated certain roads for water shutdowns, and we still have not found our issue.

The graph from the water system shows the same pattern of water loss over the 24-hour period of each day over the last two weeks.

The Town is issuing a temporary water ban effective immediately to allow us to more effectively conduct further investigations to address and solve the issue of water loss.

The following activities are prohibited until further notice:

    • πŸ’§ Lawn watering (except newly seeded or sodded lawns during the permitted times)
    • πŸš— Car washing
    • 🏊 Filling swimming pools or hot tubs
    • 🧼 Power washing driveways, decks, siding, or other outdoor surfaces
    • 🚿 Any other non-essential outdoor water use

🌱 Newly seeded or sodded lawns: Watering remains permitted only between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for the first 21 days following installation. Residents are asked to use only the amount of water necessary.

These restrictions are in place to ensure there is sufficient water for essential household use for all residents.
