Stay Safe Course- Saturday, October 21
Ages: Completed Grade 3

The STAY SAFE Course offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth 9-13 years old. Participants learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities. The course is a nationally recognized program designed to help course participants develop self-assurance, knowledge, and skills required to stay at home alone. These are important tools for your child to have as they begin to build invaluable skills for a lifetime.

The STAY SAFE Course information is as follows:

  • Age: Must be 9 or have completed grade 3.
  • Date: Saturday, Octoberr 21
  • Time: 8:30 AM to 4 PM (Lunch 12-1) Location: Holyrood Community Centre
  • Facilitator’s Name: TBD
  • Dress (for participant): Long Pants/ Leggings please
  • Registration- Please complete and select your course in the registration form below.
  • Cost: $50.00 tax included Lunch Provided (pizza, please bring beverages and snacks). Payment can be made through emt to info@holyrood.ca.
  • Materials participant needs to bring: Snacks, and water.
  • Your child will cover:
    The importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself, The importance of setting and following safety rules when on your own, How to stay safe at home and within the community, How to prepare for, recognize and respond to unexpected situations (e.g., inclement weather, strangers, and unanticipated visits) and Basic first aid skills
    Your child will receive a workbook and a participant award provided that the following criteria have been met by the end of the course:
    • Attendance and participation at all course sessions
    • Demonstration of responsible mature attitude
  • Please note that this completion card is not a guarantee of competency or certification in First Aid. The participant award is given to recognize that the participant has successfully completed the course.

Red Corss Babysitting Course- Sunday, October 22
Ages: Completed Grade 5

The Babysitting Course includes all the useful and reliable educational features parents would choose for their pre-teen or teen. The course is a nationally recognized program designed to help course participants develop self-assurance, knowledge, and skills required for babysitting duties and when caring for themselves alone. These are important tools for your child to have as they begin to build invaluable skills for a lifetime.

Thank you for reviewing the following information with your child. The Babysitting Course information is as follows:

  • Age: Must be 11 or have completed grade 5.
  • Date: Sunday, October 22
  • Time: 8:30 AM to 4PM (Lunch at noon-1)
  • Location: Star of the Sea
  • Facilitator’s name: TBD
  • Cost: $50.00 Lunch Included. Pleae bring beverages and snacks.
  • Regsitration: Please complete and select your course in the registration form below.
  • Dress (for participant): Long Pants/ Leggings please
  • Materials participant needs to bring: Teddy Bear, Snacks, and water.
  • Your child will cover: Business of babysitting; Caring for babies; Caring for toddlers; Caring for preschoolers; Caring for school-aged children; Creating safe environments and How to handle emergencies and first aid.

Your child will receive the text book and a participant award provided that the following criteria have been met by the end of the course:
•Attendance and participation at all course sessions
•Demonstration of responsible mature attitude

Please note that this completion card is not a guarantee of competency or certification in First Aid. The participant award is given to recognize that the participant has successfully completed the course.

PLEASE NOTE THE PARTICIPANT MUST BE THERE FOR THE FULL TIME. LEAVING FOR APOINTMENTS, BIRTHDAY PARTIES, LONGER LUNCHES ETC OR SHOWING UP LATE IN THE MORNING OR AFTERNOON, WILL RESULT IN THE PARTICIPANT NOT TO BE ABLE TO BE ISSUED A CARD.
